So can I tie my key to your electric kite?
I shouldn’t judge people and I should be open minded about other people’s lifestyles, but it still just makes me sad how many people I see in public who can not function without giving their cellular devices all of their attention. If I see somebody walking, they’re playing with their phone. If I’m next to someone on a bus, they’re playing with their phone. And if I’m riding an elevator with someone, they have to take out their phone. The insecure part of me is like wow you really don’t want me to start a conversation with you. But I know that they have their own personal reasons for being so immersed by their electronics. I just think it’s sad. I’d call it a character flaw.
But that’s just me being judgmental because I have a different way of thinking. I don’t mind chatting with a stranger even if I know that I’ll never see them again. But that person might just hate small talk with strangers and want to relax. I don’t know. Too many people just seem antisocial and like they lack social skills. I guess I just value different things in life. Interacting with a real life person next to me just seems like an infinitely better use of my time on this planet than rereading somebody’s new facebook status update on my mobile device while the world passes me by.
